Review: Urban Decay 'Naked Basics' Palette
Hey everyone! In this post I'm going to be discussing the Urban Decay "Naked Basics' Palette, the things I love... and the things that I'm not a fan of.
Okay, Let's start with the good; there are so many lovely things about this palette. From the beautiful neutral colour range to the sleek packaging that is a go-to for taking away on holidays or travelling in general. The three lighter shades (Venus, Foxy & Walk of Shame) are fantastic for adding a base shadow that makes blending darker colours over the top seamless. Venus, is a white shade and the only satin shade in the palette acts as a beautiful highlighting shade amount the matte formulas in the remaining 5 colours.
This palette is perfect for that effortless natural eye look, it's so simple yet so stunning and 'Crave', a matte black is useful for making any eye makeup look more dramatic! use wet for maximize colour pay off and double it up as a liner.
Naked 2 & Faint are by far my favorite eyeshadows in the palette, i love the versatility of matte brown colours and Faint is very pigmented. I usually put Naked 2 or Faint in the crease which adds a nice amount of definition and depth.
I recommend this palette for somebody who wants a simple everyday eyeshadow look with natural earthy colours.
Moving on to the very few downsides.
As you can see in the swatch above, the shadows can be a little streaky, the black especially. It's not the most pigmented black I own and takes a little to build the colour; that's why i use it wet!
The lighter shades would definetly show up on darker skin tones a lot more, i think it would be stunning on women of colour.
The lasting power is heavily improved by using a primer, and it brings out the pigmentation.
Besides that, and the fact that it is on the pricier side ($52AUD) it's a gorgeous palette that i reccomend to everyone.
Hope this helped some of you out!

I'm Really Bad at Blogging
Okay so i understand that I pretty much neglect this blog; and i think it's because I never know what to write. I'm better at talking in front of a camera and whatever comes out of my mouth is just there. Writing however is a little harder for me, and i think it's due to the fact that I'm scared of sounding stupid; which I'm sure everyone can relate to in one way or another.
I guess I'll start with what has happened within the last 3-4 months!
1. I finished and graduated High School... Yep, this girl right here passed and did alright in her exams. I'm so happy that i finished school and actually enjoyed my last year of school even though at times i was ready to fall apart like a smashed plate and a Greek wedding.
In Australia we have our exams which occur in late October and go through until mid November; and judging on how well we do in our exams, we then receive out ATAR scores which is a number which can determine what courses/universities you can get into to study your desired profession. A girl at my score got 98.9% therefor duxing the school...i can say that i was very very far away from getting a score like that with the subjects that i did!

2. I turned 18!
Finally on the 17th of December i reached adulthood in one piece.
I haven't been out clubbing yet and i get the feeling that I'm not missing very much from what other people have said.
However I have bought alcoholic beverages 3-4 times and have not once been asked for ID... which was to not only my surprise but to my friends, as they tell me i look a lot younger than them... So it was safe to say that i walked away with a very smug grin on my face. Ah! to prove people wrong!
3. I went overseas! BY MYSELF!
I traveled to New Zealand by myself to meet my best friend Kirsty. Yes, this is technically what you call an 'Internet Friendship'
The experience of travelling was so exciting, scary, nerve-racking and downright amazing. I was in the North Island for approximately 10 days and had a wonderful time. I did't travel outside for the town where i was staying , which was a little disappointing but then again I didn't have the money to go anywhere, or the resources to get me there (aka Hobbiton).
To the two women on the plane whom i sat in-between on the way over; many many thanks to you for talking to me and calming my thoughts as i was a complete nervous wreck!
There was a point where i was watching 'If I Stay' on the plane and of course it was a sad film that confronts the decision to keep fighting to stay alive or to die in peace. I adored the book so i naturally gravitated to watching it... The movie was amazing however i was nearly on the brink of tears, i stopped myself from crying because i knew if i started, i would not stop.
The younger women whom i was talking to on the flight over was simply wonderful, she explained to me that her husband is from New Zealand and they visit his family with their children every year. She asked me about what i wanted to do, and responded with makeup or to work in film and she told me all about how she filmed documentaries had that he brother in law worked on the set for Lord of The Rings! notably i was very interested in her little stories.
The woman on the left of me made a comment that really made me laugh, she explained that she was sitting by herself on the flight due to the fact she cannot deal with her husband on planes 'Good luck to the person who's sitting next to him' It was quite humorous.
I do intend to go back to NZ with my best friend Bree, her dad and my dad; we want to do some exploring and visit all the places where LOTR and The Hobbit was filmed (slight fan, can you tell?)
4. Youtube!
I started a Youtube channel by the name of 'Maygen Lee' which I upload regularly on. Mainly Lifestyle/Beauty videos. It's a really fun past time and i thoroughly enjoy creating content for. I'm not thinking about how many views or subscribers i have, i purely do it for enjoyment and because i love it. If you would like to see some of my videos you can do so here: My Youtube
And if you feel like seeing more and getting regular updates, you can subscribe :)
Well I think that's everything for the time being.
I really want to get this blog up and running... So i promise I'm going to try.
Thanks for reading!

Why Hello Again.
Even though i am roughly about 98% sure that nobody ever see's my posts, i don't really min but, finally, i am finished school! i still have one last exam left and i couldn't be happier to be done with the most stressful year of my life and move forward into new and exciting projects.
I have started a YouTube channel about beauty and lifestyle which i have been wanting to do for about 2-3 years, i just never had the confidence to put myself out there or the equipment to make somewhat good quality videos. I know it's a long shot but i want to express myself and show what i can offer to people in general.
My first video is here :) please do subscribe as it does help me out a lot!
So yeah i'm finished school and ready to commit to this blog and YouTube! Hooray!

sorry (again)
would you believe it's been 6 months since i last updated? starting this blog this year (the biggest and most stressful year of my life to date) probably wasn't the smartest idea... but then again; least it's here and ready to go for when i have time. I'm currently on my last school holidays ever so therefore I've been avoiding all responsibility to do my homework that really needs to be done.
I have a total of ELEVEN days left of school and i couldn't be more excited... or scared. Even though i have a clear idea of what i want to do; what i'm going to do.. it still doesn't settle the nerves or guarantee anything.
On the brighter side i'm travelling to New Zealand next year in January to finally meet my best friend Kirsty, the excitement is brewing everyday and i can't wait to get on that plane to Wellington! i just hope everything goes to plan.
My first exam starts in 28 days so i again, won't be updating for a while or until i finish on the 17th of November (also a month before i turn 18, yikes!). So until then... i'll be absent!
